A Weekend Away

Ashley and I were able to spend 2 days and 1 night away from home. Thanks to our special friends Becky and Suzy. It is so nice to be together- alone. It seems like it used to - almost. Ok I turned off my cell phone after all the kids called to report that they were home from school. Ashley left his on. The kids call dad only as a last resort, so we knew we were safe except for emergencies.
I love this city! I had fun with my first time lapse photography.

The view from the hotel window was incredible.

A difference of opinion

My youngest 2 boys had a difference of opinion on the top bunk New Years Eve. This is the result for the oldest. 5 staples in his head. Ashley took him to get them removed on Friday. Ashley also took pictures of the surgery and the removal. Those head wounds sure can produce a lot of blood. I took a look at this one and knew that a butterfly bandage wouldn't do.

From mother to daughter

My beautiful mom is 24 years older than me. I am 24 years older than my oldest daughter. I have thought about that often lately. My mom is the most wonderful, giving, loving, person that I know. She is the example of everything good and lovely. She is beautiful on the outside and on the inside. She is my hero. I want to be just like her. I wonder if my daughter will feel those feelings about me that I feel about my mom.

Here I am. I often wonder how my mom felt at my age. I now have a teenage daughter and 5 younger children. Mom, did you have similiar concerns? I think that kids now days have a harder time in many ways that I did when I was 14. We worry more about their safely and yet now communication tools are much more advanced. When Kelsey goes out with her friends, she takes a cell phone. I can call her and she can call me for much less effort than when I was 14. Mom just had to wait and wonder where we were. She really couldn't get a hold of us.

This is my beautiful daughter Kelsey. She is 14 and just started high school.I still remember how I felt at 14. My daughter is a stronger person than I was at 14. She knows what she wants out of life. She stands up for herself. I didn't do that as well until I was much older. She has purpose and direction. She also stands up for her friends. She is so loyal. She is amazing! I often wonder if my mom felt some of those feeling about me when I was 14.

D70s new opportunities, new challenges

Ashley gave me a Nikon D70s camera for Christmas. It is amazing! I am so challenged! I have already taken over 600 pictures and everyone of them needs to be photoshoped to look good. I was so excited today when I learned how to change the ISO and white balance settings. I think I have some pictures that will finally look good straight out of the camera(SOOC).

vegetarian

My oldest 2 decided that they are going to be vegetarians. After reading a pamplet from PETA, they decided that they are not going to contribute to the destruction of animals. I am happy to support their decision. However, after reading the pamplet from PETA, I was less than thrilled. PETA lives for shock value. All of their information was for shock purposes only. It reminded me of a quote from Sister Teresa. When she was asked to attend an antiwar ralley, she replied, "When you host a rally for world peace, I will be there. I am for peace not against war."

IF you want to change something, make it better. Focus on the good and not the bad. Great I want to be a vegetarian so that I can eat food that will help me be stronger or food that is better for my body. Be "for" something and not "against" something. Life is better in the positive.
